Michael Jarek Sonognini Scholarship
Jarek Sonognini had a love for diesel technology and dreamed of starting a shop to customize “all things diesel”. He was planning on attending First Coast Technical College in Saint Augustine, Florida the summer after his high school graduation. Unfortunately, Jarek lost his life in an automobile accident a month prior to his graduation.
In loving memory of Jarek, this scholarship was created to assist those who also share a love for diesel motors. While GPA is important, this scholarship is weighted towards those that are good working with their hands, who demonstrate financial need, and who express a desire to be great in the diesel field.
Jarek was a tireless volunteer in many arenas. He could be found serving in his community for Hurricane clean-up, serving his parents as he cared for his 3 younger sisters, and he was even helping a friend on an Eagles Scout project just before the accident occurred. In addition to service and diesel technology, Jarek could be found fishing. He loved the outdoors and Jarek participated in SMFCF projects and fishing tournaments.
what he loved
We want to honor Jarek’s commitment to helping others through this scholarship. Please help keep our dream alive with your support.
